Psychiatrist Calls If I Did It,
"A Petri Dish Crawling With Psychopathology!

After reading If I Did It, Forensic Psychiatrist Carole Lieberman, M.D. concluded, "This book is a Petri dish crawling with psychopathology, that should erase any shadow of a doubt that, indeed, OJ 'did it'! It will be used in psychology classes, as a textbook case of the mind of a murderer, a narcissistic psychopath whose obsession with his lost love drove him to kill her." Dr. Lieberman adds, "Ron Goldman was an unfortunate victim of O.J.'s flashbacks to his earlier experience of coming to Nicole's home and witnessing her having sex with another man. Tragically, Ron received O.J.'s displaced wrath."

The most fascinating part of the book, according to Dr. Lieberman, was, "His conjuring up of an accomplice, Charlie, who may well have seemed real to O.J. in the dissociated state of rage he was in on the night of the murders. Charlie was his alter ego and the voice of conscience, that he dismissed, from the time Charlie told him that going to Nicole's that night, 'isn't a good idea,' to when Charlie whispered, 'Jesus Christ, O.J.-what have you done?'"

Dr. Lieberman analyzes many other fascinating aspects to If I Did It, including: O.J.'s consuming fear of abandonment that stemmed from his relationship to his mom and destroyed every relationship he had with a woman; his ever-present self-delusion and lack of insight; and his motivation to write this book, not only for financial gain, but to prove everyone wrong in their theories about him.

If anyone can analyze O.J., it's Dr. Carole Lieberman. As the case unfolded, she was the trial analyst for E!, and a frequent commentator on other broadcast and cable news outlets, as well as on radio and in print. In her best-selling book, Bad Boys: Why We Love Them, How to Live with Them and When to Leave Them, O.J. exemplified the Prince of Darkness type whose possessive jealousy would end in - sometimes fatal - violence. And, when Dr. Lieberman visited the L.A. County Jail to perform a forensic evaluation of another inmate, she got to observe O.J. first-hand.
